Martial wants out of United as Rangnick plans talks with Pogba

Anthony Martial has told Manchester United he wants a move away from the Premier League club in January.

He's unhappy at the amount of playing time he's getting at Old Trafford, having started just twice in the top flight this season.

Martial joined United from Monaco in 2015 for an initial €50million, but has never managed to recreate the form he showed at the Ligue 1 club.

He's missed both of Ralf Rangnick's first two games at the club due to a knee injury.

“Anthony wishes to leave the club in January,” Martial's agent Philippe Lamboley told Sky Sports News, "He just needs to play.

"He doesn’t want to stay in January and I will speak to the club soon.”

January could be a busy month for United's HR department. Paul Pogba is out of contract in the summer, and yet to agree a new deal.

The France international midfielder will be free to speak to other clubs after the turn of the year.

Pogba has been laid up with a thigh injury since early November, and spent last month recuperating in Abu Dhabi.

Interim Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick told Friday's press conference that he's planning further talks with the 28-year old.

"We spoke over the phone on Tuesday," the German said, "He was still in Dubai, he is expected to come back today and then we get to know each other in person on Sunday.

"We have had a telephone call. He told me he is getting better but, obviously, he is still not fully fit.

"From what I have heard so far, it will take another couple of weeks until he can train again. And then he has been out for quite some time, so then it will take another couple of weeks to get him match-fit.

"But in the first instance now, it is important he gets fully fit in order to be able train with the rest of the group and then we have to develop him physically and technically to also be fit to play in the Premier League."
