Liverpool's Salah produces second COVID-19 positive with Egypt

Mo Salah's latest COVID-19 swab has returned positive for COVID-19.

The Liverpool forward originally tested positive last Friday while on international duty with Egypt.

Salah missed his country's back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with Togo as a result.

The Egyptian FA also confirmed that Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny's latest swab also returned a positive result and he too is self-isolating.

Due to his continued positive tests, the 28-year old is likely to miss Liverpool's next three matches.

UK government coronavirus rules dictate individuals must undergo a 10-day isolation period after a positive test.

It's not yet clear whether Salah will be allowed travel back to England on Monday when his period of isolation ends, or whether he needs to first produce a negative test.

The Premier League champions welcome Leicester City to Anfield on Sunday evening.

Salah's also likely to miss the Champions League meeting with Atalanta, and the Premier League trip to Brighton (November 28).

Liverpool have been one of the Premier League's hardest-hit sides when it comes to COVID-19.

Thiago and Sadio Mane have both tested positive, as has Xherdan Shaqiri but the Swiss midfielder's turned out to be a false positive.
