Liverpool are prepared to step up their interest in Red Bull Salzburg's Takumi Minamino in the January transfer window.
Jurgen Klopp's side faced the Japan international twice in the Champions League this season, most recently during the Reds 2-0 win in Austria on Tuesday night.
The 24-year-old scored at Anfield earlier in the season and was one of Salzburg's standout players in midweek when Liverpool secured a place in the last 16 of the competition.
Minamino can play in a number of attacking positions and he has a release clause in his contract of only €9 million.
There is no doubt he caught the eye of Klopp and he would be another option for the European champions in their pursuit of the Premier League title.
Liverpool are keen to move quickly amid interest from a number of Premier League, Bundesliga and Serie A clubs.
