Mark Lawrenson believes this is the season Liverpool will finally end their long league drought.

Jurgen Klopp's side dropped points for the first time in the Premier League this season at Manchester United.

But they remain six points clear at the top ahead of Manchester City.

Despite that minor setback, ex-Liverpool and Ireland defender Lawrenson is backing them to bounce back.

He joined us ahead of their Champions League clash at reigning Belgian champions Genk and touched on their league travails.

"Klopp will be happy"

"A large percentage of the game, they just didn't play well," he said of Sunday.

"And I think privately that Klopp will be happy with the fact that they've come away with a point. They still remain undefeated. But he will have made sure that the players know that he didn't think that the standard was good enough."

But he also added that it's normal for a team's standard to drop slightly once or twice in a 9-10 game run. And he also feels any issues at present are simply "minutiae" rather than pressing problems.

"I think they'll win the league this season for many different reasons," said Lawrenson.

Origi

Meanwhile, Divock Origi started in Mo Salah's absence on Sunday and Lawrenson feels the Belgian isn't good enough to play a regular part.

"I wouldn't mind betting you that within six months, 12 months, 18 months, that Divock Origi will be sold on," he said.

"Because he'll say he'll want to play regular football and Liverpool will get a big fee for him. But in terms of the triumvirate with the three of them, he doesn't really work in that triumvirate.

"There is a difference. He isn't quite good enough at that level. I'm not saying he's not good enough to play for Liverpool. But we're talking Champions League winners and he's not of that standard."
