Should Jesse Lingard get out of the Old Trafford 'goldfish bowl'?

Jesse Lingard may have scored two goals in his last two games for Manchester United, but it would appear his career there is drawing to a close.

The England international found the back of the net against Leicester City in the final minute of United's season, following a long dry spell.

He then scored on Wednesday night at Old Trafford in the 2-1 win over Austrian side LASK in the Europa League last-16.

However, with the attacking talent United already have, and a busy transfer window expected, Lingard may be in search of a new club before the window shuts in October.

Our own Premier League commentator Stephen Doyle joined us for an episode of Deal or No Deal on OTB AM, and he feels that although Lingard's time in Manchester is likely up, he should be able to find a new club in the top-tier.

"You think when you look through that Manchester United team, and the attacking options they have, and of course if Jadon Sancho does come... when you compare Jesse Lingard to the class of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho, is he at that level? No he's not.

"It's clear that he's on his way out and I think after he was substituted against LASK after scoring that goal, he didn't look too happy.

"Solskjaer is reportedly ready to listen to offers for him at this stage so... he's scored in back-to-back games, he had gone 29 games without a goal or an assist.

"He's still got something there, he's obviously had a terrible time with injuries, and confidence as well. I think it's going to be good for him [to move].

"Sometimes players like Jesse Lingard, when you're at one of the best clubs in the world like Manchester United, the microscope is on you all the time, and you have to produce your best week in week out.

"That's an awful lot of pressure, and we know he's been open about some family issues and personal issues that he's had to deal with over the last season or two.

"I know at 27 he's an adult male, but he's still a young guy and has an awful lot to deal with, so perhaps getting out of that goldfish bowl at Old Trafford and going to another club would be just the tonic for him.

"Maybe a club like Leeds United, West Brom, or Fulham... he's a player maybe they could look at, because he's got so much Premier League experience.

"Then you're looking at clubs who are going to be sitting around mid-table, top 10... maybe even the likes of Burnley, where his valuable experience will bring an awful lot to a club that's trying to either consolidate their position in the Premier League or beat off relegation."
