Ireland and Slovakia to be played behind closed doors

The Republic of Ireland's Euro 2020 playoff against Slovakia will take place behind closed doors due to the coronavirus.

The Slovak FA President Jan Kovacik confirmed that the game will go ahead on March 26th but only without supporters.

The FAI followed the confirmation with a statement of their own saying it was on the instruction of the Slovakian government.

The Slovakian government announced on Monday it was imposing a 14-day suspension of all sporting events in the country.

The FAI say all fans who purchased tickets for the game in Bratislava will be refunded and have urged supporters with queries regarding refunds to contact [email protected].

The winner of Ireland and Slovakia will meet either Bosnia Herzegovina or Northern Ireland for a place at Euro 2020.
