Farke hints at wide role for Adam Idah after "decent impact" at Spurs

Norwich City manager Daniel Farke has singled out Adam Idah for special praise ahead of their Premier League trip to Sheffield United.

The Republic of Ireland U21 international striker scored in penalty shootout as the Canaries dumped Tottenham out of the FA Cup at the fifth round stage.

Idah was a 72nd minute substitute for Lukas Rupp on Wednesday night at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and succeeded where his international team-mate Troy Parrott failed in the shootout.

The Corkman's been used sparingly this season with the experience of Teemu Pukki and fit-again Josip Drmic preferred by Farke as the club battle against relegation.

But Farke was impressed by Idah's contribution on Wednesday night, "I think he had also a decent impact in the [FA] Cup game.

"He didn't score, but with his movement in behind, with his pace he created many many good situations - also created space for his team-mates.

"I'm pretty pleased with my strikers."

It was Drmic's goal that forced extra-time away to Spurs, and that was his first time finding the net since their fourth-round win over Burnley in January, but - much like that of Jamal Lewis against Leicester - goals are coming at the right time for Farke.

"Josip can always create something and score. He has the natural instinct.

"We speak about a bicycle kick in the top corner, or Jamal's goal against Leicester. I would nominate Josip's for a prize because 30 times you make that run and don't get the ball, but it's important to be there for the one moment. You need to be switched on."

With Onel Hernandez out injured, Farke's hinted at Idah being deployed in his stead in a wide capacity.

"We know we have strikers right now that are capable to score", Farke told his pre-match press conference, "and also Adam is a good option because he can also play on the wing.

"He has had a decent impact in the last game and in general.

"So I'm pretty pretty pleased with my strikers and it's good to have them all available right now."
