Dundalk stay eight points clear at the top

League leaders Dundalk made it eight wins in a row to stay eight points clear at the top of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division.

Dundalk 3 Waterford FC 0

League leaders Dundalk made it eight wins in a row with a 3-0 over Waterford at Oriel Park to maintain their eight-point lead at the top of the table.

The Lilywhites followed up on last Friday's 1-0 win away to Shamrock Rovers to move one step closer to retaining their league title.

Vinny Perth's side were ahead inside the second minute when Kenny Browne turned the ball into his own goal.

Daniel Kelly doubled the lead in the 24th minute and Jamie McGrath put the game to bed with the third goal 20 minutes into the second half.

St. Patrick's Athletic 0 Shamrock Rovers 2

Shamrock Rovers got back to winning ways with a 2-0 win away to St Patrick’s Athletic.

Rovers went into the game without a win in three and Stephen Bradley's men went in 1-0 up at the break thanks to a Greg Bolger goal in first-half injury time.

Sean Kavanagh made sure of the points with a free-kick five minutes after the re-start.

Still, with Dundalk eight points clear they can’t let them out of sight on the domestic front.

Sligo Rovers 5 UCD 1

Ronan Coughlan bagged a hat-trick for Sligo Rovers in a 5-1 win over UCD at the Showgrounds. It was a first win in five games for Sligo, who went behind in the ninth minute through a Liam Scales goal.

Johnny Dunleavy leveled things up in the 21st minute and one minute later Coughlan got the first of his three goals.

Romeo Parkes was also on target for the home side.

Bohemians 0 Derry City 0

Third-placed Bohs remain six points ahead of Derry City following last night's scoreless draw at Dalymount Park. The Candystripes have played a game less than Keith Long's side.

Keith Ward forced a great save from Derry keeper Peter Cherrie with a late free-kick while Derry captain Barry McNamee spurned a great chance for the away side.

Finn Harps 0 Cork City 0

There were seven goals when the two clubs met in Ballybofey in March but last night was a more dull affair. Cork made the long trip to Ballybofey after a disappointing 4-1 loss to Derry City at Turners Cross last Friday.
