Darren Randolph set for return to West Ham

Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Darren Randolph could be on his way back to West Ham, who he left to join Middlesbrough in July 2017.

The Guardian is reporting that a deal worth £4 million has been agreed by both clubs after the Hammers had a bid rejected by Boro last week.

Randolph was named in the 2018/19 Championship Team of the Season but the 32-year-old has been in and out of the Boro first team this season due to injury.

The Ireland number one hasn't played a game since November 24 although he is close to a return from a thigh injury.

The Hammers have been boosted by the return of Lukasz Fabianski in recent weeks and he has kept back-to-back clean sheets under David Moyes.

Fabianski has been one of West Ham's most consistent performers since he moved from Swansea in 2018 so Randolph might have to wait for his opportunity to become a regular in the Premier League.

Moyes is looking for a new goalkeeper to compete with Fabianski due to the form of Roberto, who was left out of the team for David Martin earlier this season.

Randolph left the Hammers for Boro in 2017 shortly after former England international Joe Hart arrived at the London club.
