'I am not going to talk about it' | Guardiola tight-lipped on Kane ahead of weekend clash

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola refused to be drawn on speculation continuing to link Harry Kane with a move to the club.

He was speaking ahead his side's clash with Kane's existing club - Tottenham - on Sunday.

The Spaniard conceded the Premier League champions were interested in acquiring Kane's signature last week.

However, speaking on Friday, Guardiola did not entertain questions on the same topic.

"I answered this question the previous press conference," he told reporters.

"This is a player from  Tottenham Hotspur so I'm not going to talk about, I made an exception the last time.

"Usually I don't talk about transfers because it's none of my business, that's all."

His Spurs counterpart, Nuno Espirito Santo, says he has no worries surrounding Kane's willingness to play for the club.

"I don't have any concern on trying to convince players to play for Tottenham, Because it's such a huge club, a fantastic club, we should be proud of being here,"

"We cannot control what is happening outside the building, the news, the speculation, the rumours among us cannot be distractions, we are clear on what we have to do and we have a shield and we have to protect that shield as best we can."

On whether Kane will be part of the Tottenham side on this weekend, Nuno said it's still under consideration.

"We still have the session of tomorrow, players that don't have too many sessions with us, we have to think and we still have the day off tomorrow to make the decisions."

Guardiola, meanwhile, believes the standard of competition is increasing year on year.

"Every season since I arrived five or six years ago, I have the feeling that every season is tougher, is stronger, better teams.

"Every season when you begin is a new challenge. We celebrate our title, now it's in our memories and we start again.
