Former Chelsea and Scotland winger Pat Nevin joined The Football Show to discuss Everton and their huge victory over Brighton.
It's an unusual Monday in the Premier League.
Not only did Manchester United and West Ham play late last night, with West Ham winning 1-0, but there were three games today as well. These unusual fixtures are in part because of the coronation. But the newly-crowned king can't be blamed for the unusual results.
None is more unusual than Everton beating Brighton 5-1 away from home.
Brighton were pushing for a Champions League spot with a couple of games in hand over Manchester United, Newcastle, Liverpool and Tottenham. But this loss stacks the odds against them. Even Evan Ferguson coming off the bench at halftime couldn't save them.
Pat Nevin explains that the result itself was crazy, but the game was even crazier in how it played out.
"It's been mental," Nevin said.
"It's been absolutely brilliant. I will admit I've not been enjoying large parts of the last few weeks with Chelsea and Everton. But Everton today, that is actually one of the most astounding games I've seen in years.
"We're all up for a bit of hyperbole, but seriously it almost looked like five breaks and five goals. It was extraordinary."
Nevin believes that Sean Dyche has completely changed Everton since taking over. Although today's result was mostly a freak occurrence rather than based on any specific football reasoning, Nevin suspects more teams are moving towards structured managers because of the spread of quality in the Premier League.
"Some of the goals we've been seeing in the last few days have been quite incredible as well. There's a number of reasons for it I think. But it's a great end. It's a fantastic end to the season."
