OTB AM Newsround: Klopp defiant ahead of Bayern showdown, Spoiling Wales' Grand Slam party

Cristiano Ronaldo believes his hat-trick against Atletico Madrid has repaid the transfer fee Juventus that the club coughed up for him.

The Portugal captain joined from Real Madrid in a deal worth €112million.

Before last night he only scored once in the group stage, while he was also sent off against Valencia.

But with the chips down he delivered in style to complete a stunning comeback against Atletico

Ronaldo told Sky Sport Italia: "This is why Juve brought me in, to help on magic nights like this."

He’s likely facing a fine for his celebration - which appeared to mimic Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone.

Simeone turned towards fans and grabbed his crotch after Jose Gimenez opened the scoring in the 2-0 win last month.

He was fined €20,000 by UEFA for what they called the 'obscene' goal celebration.

Meanwhile, Manchester City strolled into the last 8 with a 7-nil victory over Schalke at the Etihad Stadium.

Two first half goals from Sergio Aguero sent the Premier League leaders on their way to a 10-2 aggregate win.

Phil Foden was among the scorers during last night's win over Schalke.

Liverpool's Champions League Showdown

Jurgen Klopp says he'll be ignoring "pundits from Manchester United" for the rest of the season.

He has rejected claims by Gary Neville that the club's Premier League title prospects would be boosted by a European exit at the hands of Bayern Munich.

Liverpool are currently one point behind Premier League leaders Manchester City.

They face Bayern later in the Allianz Arena knowing that a score draw will be enough to secure a place in the quarterfinals following last month's 0-0 draw at Anfield.

But with City still in contention to win the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup - Neville believes Liverpool would be better suited to focus on domestic matters.

United captain Neville said last week that being eliminated by Bayern would help Liverpool's title bid.

Jurgen Klopp relaxed ahead of tonight's clash with Bayern Munich.

Alexandre Lacazette has been cleared to play for Arsenal in the second leg of the Europa League last-16 tie against Rennes tomorrow after UEFA reduced his three-match suspension following an appeal.

The Frenchman had been shown a straight red card in the .last-32 first leg loss away against BATE Borisov.

Lacazette was sent off elbowing an opponent

Governing body UEFA confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that Arsenal's appeal "has partially been upheld", with a reduced two-match European sanction now deemed to have been served.

Leeds went top of the Championship last night with a 3-nil win away to Reading

David McGoldrick sent Mick McCarthy a timely reminder of his talents.

He scored the second as ten-man Sheffield United beat Brentford 2-nil at Bramall Lane.

That marked the strikers 12th Championship goal of the season

Later Norwich can reclaim top spot tonight with a win at home to Hull.

David McGoldrick got himself on the scoresheet last night.

Declan Rice is expected to get his first England call-up when manager Gareth Southgate names his squad for their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers this afternoon.

The West Ham midfielder recently switched his international allegiance from the Republic of Ireland.

It comes just 24 hours after the FAI confirmed Rice has been named Ireland's Young Player of the Year.

The midfielder was selected by a panel of journalists before ditching Ireland and declaring himself a proud Englishman.

Grand Ambitions

In rugby, Johnny Sexton has fired a warning shot to Wales and is confident Ireland can ruin their Grand Slam party.

Wales are on course to emulate the feat achieved by Ireland last year – and will secure that accolade with a win this weekend.

Ireland, still harbour hopes of winning the championship, but need to win and hope for a favour from Scotland against England.

Joe Schmidt's charges brought an end to the All Blacks’ record-breaking 18-match winning run in 2016 and also denied England a Grand Slam the following year.
