Manchester City lining up a move for West Ham's Declan Rice

Manchester City are lining up a move for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.

According to reports in the UK press, the Premier League champions are looking to sign the Republic of Ireland international. Pep Guardiola views Rice as a long term successor to Fernandinho.

The influential Brazilian will turn 34 before the season’s end. City will need to pony up significant dough if they want to lure the 19-year-old away from West Ham though.

They will have to part with over £50 million if they wish to sign Rice. The London born midfielder has made three senior appearances for the Republic of Ireland, he has been a regular in the starting XI this season.

The 19-year-old has been a standout performer in Manuel Pellegrini’s side in recent weeks

Rice recently signed a new long-term contract at with the Hammers which will keep him at the club for another five years.

The Republic of Ireland international has been one of the club’s most consistent performers this season. He's been playing in a holding midfield role for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, he’s made 18 appearances so far.

Ger Gilroy and Eoin Sheahan discussed City’s interest in the teenager on Thursday's OTB AM. They asked if the move would suit Rice.
