Liverpool came away victorious from Old Trafford in the Premier League for the first time since 2014, beating Manchester United 4-2.

The Merseysiders went into the match with an aspiration to win all four of their remaining Premier League games to qualify for next season's Champions League, and they can tick one of those off.

An early own goal from Nat Phillips after a shot from Bruno Fernandes gave United the lead, before Diogo Jota equalised shortly afterwards.

Roberto Firmino nodded home for Liverpool shortly before half-time for Jurgen Klopp's side, before scoring early in the second half for Liverpool to take a two-goal lead.

Marcus Rashford finished clinically after being moved centrally from a starting-right position, sliding past Alisson.

Mo Salah completed the night for Liverpool, beating Dean Henderson - who had a tricky night between the sticks for United.

The situation before the match had been to focus on fan protests, the likes of which saw the original of this fixture postponed ten days ago.

Gary Neville told Sky Sports that the optics of the pre-emptive measures taken by the club to stymie the protests reflect poorly on the Glazer family.

"Let us be clear, what we’ve seen on that forecourt before is effectively Man United turned into a prison, it’s a devastating image for the Manchester United Football Club brand around the world, let’s just note that,” Neville said.

“You have to put prison walls up around your ground and have hundreds and hundreds of police officers at a game where fans are not attending, there is something that has gone badly wrong.”
