Leeds United legend Norman Hunter in hospital with coronavirus

Leeds United have confirmed that club legend Norman Hunter is being treated in hospital after testing positive for coronavirus.

Hunter played 726 games for Leeds during a 15-year period at Elland Road and won two top flight titles.

Only Jack Charlton, Billy Bremner and Paul Reaney have made more appearances for Leeds and the 76-year-old was also part of England's World Cup winning squad in 1966.

Hunter also played for Bristol City and Barnsley, and then managed the Tykes along with Rotherham United.

A club statement read: "We can confirm that Leeds United and England legend Norman Hunter is being treated in hospital after testing positive for COVID-19.

"We would like to take this opportunity to remind the public and the media to respect the wishes of Norman and his family and to give them the space they need during this difficult time.

"Keep battling Norman, we are all with you."
