Khabib Nurmagomedov head coach Javier Mendez' wants immediate Conor McGregor rematch in Cowboy stadium

Undisputed UFC lightweight champion Khabib Numragomedov’s head coach Javier Mendez wants his fighter to fight Conor McGregor in an immediate rematch for the title.

Mendez joined Niall McGrath on this week’s ‘Off The Brawl MMA’ on offtheball.com (Listen here)

“I look at this as more of a prize fight than I do sport. So, I want the biggest prize fight; so the biggest prize fight, hands down, no comparison, is Conor – obviously I want a rematch because that’s what this is - the biggest prize fight,’ said Mendez

UFC President Dan White expressed his desire to make a rematch between the pair in a recent interview with TMZ.

The promotion’s boss says no talk of a rematch can commence until Nurmagomedov and McGregor face a disciplinary hearing in front of the Nevada Athletic commission on JAN. 29.

NAC summonsed Nurmagomedov and McGregor to face an executive panel after the post-fight melee at UFC 229. (Listen below and or subscribe on our Youtube channel)

AKA's Mendez believes interest in the fight will eclipse that of the first, due to the post-fight brawl that occurred. He believes the rematch is the biggest money fight in MMA.

The first meeting between the pair at UFC 229 broke US PPV records with a $2.4 million buyrate.

“Because of what happened the last time there’s more interest now on the second one if there’s a rematch to be had. So, for me - I would rather have that because it’s a prize fight. It's who is the biggest prize fight – that’s the biggest money fight to make bar none in MMA, there is no other one that will make as much money for Khabib than a Conor and him rematch,' explained Mendez.

UFC president Dana White has openly expressed his desire to hold an event in Cowboy Stadium for a number of years, and the lightweight champion's coach thinks the promotion should "Strike while the iron is hot" and make that come to fruition.

"Now is the time to strike while the iron is hot. I say Cowboy Stadium - that would still do the pay-per-view numbers, it would do everything. I think now is the time to consider doing something like that."
