Irish star Troy Parrott included in Spurs' Champions League squad

Republic of Ireland underage star Troy Parrott has been included in Spurs' UEFA Champions League squad for this season.

Last year's finalists have named their 23-man panel and the 17-year-old Dublin striker has made Mauricio Pochettino's cut.

The London outfit had a stellar campaign in Europe last year, before ultimately losing to Premier League rivals Liverpool 2-0 in the final.

Spurs were drawn in group B in the recent group stage draw where they will play Bayern Munich, Olympiakos and Red Star Belgrade.

They begin their campaign away at Olympiakos on September 18th. They first host Crystal Palace this Saturday afternoon in the Premier League at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Football London have reported the details of the squad, with Christian Eriksen also included amidst speculation over his future at the club.

Parrott is Spurs' second-choice striker at the moment behind Harry Kane, with Spanish striker Fernando Llorente now gone from the club.

The teenager played against the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus in a busy pre-season, and has impressed at underage international level.

Parrott scored four times in four appearances for Tom Mohan's Republic of Ireland under-19 side but is yet to feature at under-21 grade due to injury problems.

Parrott was included in Mick McCarthy's wider 40-man panel for tomorrow night's crucial Euro 2020 qualifier against Switzerland and next Tuesday's friendly with Bulgaria, but didn't make the final 25 - instead joining up with Stephen Kenny's under-21s.

Pochettino's side have won one, drawn two and lost one of their opening four Premier League games this season.

Their north London derby at the weekend finished in a 2-2 draw at the Emirates. They had taken a 2-0 lead through an Eriksen goal and Harry Kane penalty, but strikes from Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang meant the rivals shared the spoils.
