Ireland goalkeeper Kieran O'Hara banned for 6 games for biting opponent

Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper Kieran O'Hara has been banned for six-games by the Football Association for biting an opponent.

The Burton Albion stopper was found guilty of violent and/or improper conduct in last weekend's League One game with Peterborough United at the Pirelli Stadium.

O'Hara bit Peterborough striker Sammie Szmodics while they awaited a corner to be taken a minute before half-time.

The twice-capped international had disputed the charge, but an FA investigation has proven that he was in breach of FA Rule E3.

O'Hara's also been fined £2,500.

O'Hara is spending the season on loan from Manchester United at Burton where he has been an ever-present in League One this season.

Nigel Clough's side sit 12th in League One ahead of Saturday's trip to Lincoln City.

But with the ban kicking in immediately, O'Hara will miss that match along with games against Bolton Wanderers, Wycombe Wanderers, Rochdale, Doncaster Rovers and Blackpool.

The 23-year old will be available to Clough again for the April 10 visit of Shrewsbury Town.

When initially charged, Burton said they would dispute the charge but they've acknowledged the ban adding they'll "be making no further comments at this time".
