'I'd be starting with Earls' - Keith Wood on Munster's Saracens quest

Keith Earls is feeling his way back into front line action for Munster and Keith Wood believes he needs to start Saturday's crunch Champions Cup game against Saracens.

"I'd be starting him," said Keith on Off The Ball tonight, adding that: "He offers them a bit of a spark."

Previewing the game alongside The Irish Times' Gerry Thornley, he also detailed some of the nuances of the Saracens synthetic pitch and how much of a factor it will be for Munster.

He also believes that Saracens have not kicked on greatly since reaching the Heineken Cup final last year. But he thinks they will be much more "comfortable at home".

However, he also believes Munster need to be zoning in on the key opposition players, especially the starting out-half.

"Do you target [Owen] Farrell? You absolutely do and you target Charlie Hodgson, whichever guy is in," said Keith.

Gerry thinks Farrell can get "edgy" in games and hopes Munster pick JJ Hanrahan in order to bring more variety.

"Munster need a bit more variety than they showed in the first game," he said.

But he also believes that a lot hinges on the performance and result this weekend for Munster in a "win or bust" match.

"To a large degree, this is a season-defining game and you can be sure that the focus all week in training will have been intense and they'll produce a big performance at the weekend. Whether it's enough remains to be seen," said Gerry.

The lads also analysed Leinster's match against a struggling Castres and Ulster's challenge against Toulon.

Munster and Ulster's matches are live on Off The Ball this Saturday.
