Well, there we were looking forward to an easy-going Sunday Paper Review. Bang goes that.
After Ireland's laboured 1-0 win against Gibraltar, the FAI released a statement announcing that John Delaney would be leaving his role as CEO of the organisation to take up a newly-created Executive Vice-President role. The decision comes after a tumultuous ten days for the organisation, with questions lingering over a €100,000 'bridging loan' to the FAI from Delaney.
The Paper Review will be going through the coverage of the story in all of the major newspapers this morning - pity the poor editor that had to redo the entire paper before its printing after the statement at 8pm last night!
We will also be paying close attention to Mark Tighe's piece in The Sunday Times about the alleged €3,000 a month rental payments made for Delaney's home in Wicklow.
The panel will also pore over the proposed changes to the line-out rule by World Rugby, football's poor approach to concussion via Fabian Schar's knockout for Switzerland yesterday.
