"Super Bowl LII will go down as one of the best in history" - Mike Carlson

SuperBowl LII will go down as one of the best in history, according to NFL pundit Mike Carlson. The Philadelphia Eagles overcame Tom Brady’s New England Patriots in a 41-33 thriller in Minneapolis, with Brady on the end of a sack that changed the game.

Carlson said: “We’ve had a run of really good Super Bowls... but this is one of the few that was like a start-to-finish shoot out. It was like two punchers throwing loads of punches from beginning to end.”

“It was like watching two really well-oiled offences having their way with the defenses."

Both Carlson and Cian Fahey - writer of Pre-Snap Reads NFL blog - praised Eagles’ quarterback, Nick Foles.

“The Eagles were able to dominate much of the game with their offensive line. Nick Foles was able to hit a couple of plays where he and his receivers simply beat guys individually” according to Carlson. On Eagles’ quarterback Foles’ consistency, Fahey believes that he is playing the best football of his career, and that this is due in no small part to the coaching of Doug Pederson.

However, there are question around the future of the Patriots’ legendary coach, Bill Bellichick:

“Yesterday, I would have said Bill will be back and will like the challenge of putting together another winning team. Today, I don’t know. Looking at his face at after the game, you’d say ‘that’s it’, but upon reflection he’ll probably not want to go out on a low note like that... [so] many coaches hang on for too long...so I’m curious to see what will happen” said Carlson.
