Phoenix Carnevale on Conor McGregor: "He's really about the attention being on him"

Martial Artist and journalist Phoenix Carnevale joined Friday's Off the Ball to discuss Conor McGregor's behaviour and the disruption it has caused to the UFC 223 card.

Three bouts had to be scrapped from the event in Brooklyn after McGregor and his entourage allegedly attacked a bus, smashing a window and injuring some of the occupants.

Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg were withdrawn from the event due to medical reasons while SBG's Artem Lobov was pulled from the card due to his involvement in the incident.

In an unrelated twist, Max Holloway was then pulled from the main event due to medical complications after the weigh-in.

The UFC has since been scrambling to fix the card with the weekend almost upon us and the Irishman has since turned himself in to the New York Police Department.

"Before he gets to the UFC - he's got to deal with the New York State Athletic Commission and he also has to deal with the NYPD so currently he's being arraigned and there's going to be a ton of fines - there'll be some suspensions.

"But, he's going to be able to show up at Wrestle Mania and still promote himself - he's just going to shell out a ton of money.

"The UFC was currently working on the next deal with Conor McGregor so if he's going to be suspended - he's going to have to deal with some type of 'code of conduct' with the UFC. We might not see him fight for a while which is shame.

"Look at it this way - the best thing about combat sports is if you dislike someone or have animosity with them - you can actually fight them for money and have six weeks to train for them so, it was a bad business move!" she added.
