"73 does not deserve a 99" - Padraig Harrington sums up "more stressful" Day 2

Padraig Harrington had such a comfortable time on course on Thursday at the Irish Open that he treated himself to a 99.

But Friday's Round 2 in Lahinch was not so kind to him.

The three-time major winner has fallen from the top of the leaderboard from 7-under to 4-under after shooting a 73.

After that second round setback, he spoke to John Duggan about where it went wrong.

"It was a lot more stressful today. In those conditions, you're just working so hard," he said.

Tough Course

"Yesterday was just a stroll in the park. Look, it is a tough course. They've slowed down the greens a bit, they've gone generous with the pin positions.

"So they've made the course as easy as possible for us so it's definitely a tough golf course."

He also made a joking reference to the ice cream he indulged in on Thursday evening.

"73 does not deserve a 99," he laughed, before touching on how he plans to remedy his Day 2 struggles.

"I will probably hit some shots and I definitely will practice my chipping a bit. It's hard to recreate the chip shots.

"I haven't found the spot yet that gives me an interesting chipping here. So that's a bit difficult. The chips on the course are great.

"Every one of them are great shots but I haven't quite found the chipping green here. There are a couple of them I'm going to go look for. A more interesting chipping green to get myself up to speed."
