This morning's OTB AM is brought to you in association with Andy Lee, former WBO Middleweight champion and all-round nice guy, who's the latest co-host to fill in for young Eoin Sheehan, who's still on his holidays.
Lee stepped into the guest co-host chair today, replacing the hot-taking Paul Rouse who you may remember from yesterday's show, or from such opinions as "Michael Donnellan wasn't all that".
Lee claimed he'd rather take a punch than go through the physical demands rugby players are subjected to most weeks, and we're take his word for it seeing as he's more than likely taken more punches in a day's training than we have collectively in a lifetime. That's not the only rugby chat, as the lads touch on a potential boycott of Ulster's home game against Glasgow in the Pro14 this weekend, and Johann van Graan's early success at Munster after lead the side to a Champions Cup semi-final having taken charge of the side halfway through the season.
There's GAA chat in the form of the GAA's new Director General Tom Ryan's statement that there will be no review on the television deal in place with Sky Sports, as it looks sets to stand until the end of the current contract, which runs until 2020. The Carlow man also ruled out the possibility of extra games being broadcast on TV, and refuted claims that he's merely a money man despite his vast experience in the financial sector.
That's not the only talk of money, as Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder inch ever closer to what should be the biggest heavyweight boxing bout since the turn of the century. Contracts, promoters, venues, TV deals, purses, rematch clauses, and a whatever else scuppers these fights are all on the chopping block. There's also some talk about who may actually win the fight, which can sometimes be an interesting angle in this modern age where what happens outside the ring is often more important than when the bell finally rings.
It's not a sports news day in 2018 unless Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba are discussed, so we've covered that but we've more chat transfers battles, Harry Kane's non-goal/goal,and Sam Allardici's future as Everton boss after the club took to social media to ask the fans what they've made of the former England boss' time in charge. All that and more on today's Paper Review.
