Ireland's Louise Quinn is excited about the team's future after her first meeting with new manager Vera Pauw.
The FAI announced the appointment of Vera Pauw, who is the long-term successor to Colin Bell.
Joining us after last night's Ireland victory over Montenegro, Arsenal's Quinn said she had since met the new head coach.
"We didn't know it was going to be happening so soon," she revealed.
"We were given a bit of indication that it was going to be happening soon and I think we all made that assumption that they'd wait until the game was over.
"It's a very exciting appointment and it was great. A couple of us went into Abbotstown then today to meet her properly as well.
"She did actually introduce herself to the team last night, very briefly after the game. But then a few of us went in for a chat with her today, just to get to know her and see what her thoughts are.
"So it was really, really nice to meet her and just what she has in mind for this team is really exciting. And her experience at all different levels, she's coached all different kinds of teams from club to international. On paper, she has an absolutely unbelievable CV and then talking to her in person as well, she really backs that up. We're very excited."
Beating Montenegro
Meanwhile, Quinn featured in the Ireland side against Montenegro in the opening Euro 2021 qualifier last night.
The Irish side, under interim head coach Tom O'Connor, won 2-0. She admitted that Ireland need to adapt to facing sides that set out to frustrate.
"It's very difficult to play through teams. It's something as well where we've got to learn to be more comfortable on the ball," she said.
"Knowing how to use it and know how we need to move when we have the ball and when we don't have the ball. So it was definitely difficult.
"Maybe it wasn't one of our tidiest performances. But we were trying a lot and maybe sometimes tried a bit too hard."
Overall, Quinn viewed the performance as "positive but without so much to pick up on and learn from it".
