"Liverpool should be up before FA" - John Giles on half-time snow clearing

John Giles believes Liverpool "should be up before the FA" over the way the Anfield pitch was only half-cleared of snow on Wednesday night.

At half-time, the Liverpool grounds staff only cleared snow away from the half the Reds would be attacking during the second half.

That meant conditions in the half Leicester would attack were not ideal for passing the ball.

Ultimately though, Liverpool failed to capitalise and drew 1-1, with no goals scored in the second half.

Leeds and Ireland legend John joined us always on a Thursday and didn't see the funny side.

"I didn't think it was funny"

"I think Liverpool should be up before the Football Association for that," he said.

"The lads on the television where I was watching it were making a bit of fun of it. But I didn't think it was funny and today, I still don't think it was funny.

"I thought it was very bad. What the ground staff were thinking about, I don't know. But it was absolutely ridiculous. How can you work for 15 minutes at half time in the opponent's penalty area? It's not right and I think there will be more made of it than was made of it on the TV."

On the match itself, he believes Leicester could have snatched a victory against an under-par Liverpool.

"Lots of Liverpool supporters would be disappointed they got a draw but it could have been worse," said John.

Meanwhile, Manchester City also struggled this week, losing at Newcastle United. But he doesn't think complacency is the issue for Pep Guardiola's side.

"I would be very surprised if they were complacent," he said.

"City were lethargic. They didn't have the same buzz about them that you'd want to break down the Newcastle defence."

On Manchester United, who are still unbeaten under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he is "wary" of giving the Norwegian the job full-time.
