David Brady brands treatment of Aidan O'Shea as an "absolute disgrace"

Mayo and Galway's clashes are always going to be heated given the geographic proximity and the two counties' statures within Connacht abnd beyond.

But the rivalry definitely boiled over in Sunday's Allianz Football League Division 1 match between the two at Pearse Stadium, with three red cards (including one for Mayo's Cillian O'Connor), multiple yellows and a succession of off-the-ball incidents.

Former Mayo footballer David Brady joined Joe on Monday night to review the weekend's action including Dublin vs Donegal and the game between Kildare and Tyrone.

But he also touched on the tempestuous scenes between Mayo and Galway.

"There's no place for it and I would question the managers to an extent," said Brady.

And he raised one point in regard to the way he feels Mayo star Aidan O'Shea is targeted by opposition sides.

"I think it's an absolute disgrace the way Aidan O'Shea is getting treated," said Brady.

"I'm taking him as a player, every single game. Now, what Cillian [O'Connor] did was wrong and you know what he needs to learn from it -  but every single game you watch it, you see it. He's being absolutely pulled, dragged and battered.

"And you know what, if I was an opposition manager, I'd be nearly saying, 'You know what boys, go at him again, he's on a yellow'.

"He was on a yellow yesterday when there were two Galway players booked. They went at him for one single reason only: to get him sent off. Because he was on a yellow. But it was through a yellow card tackle. It wasn't a punch or a slap or a sly hit. Every single game, he's getting [targeted like that]."
