Marcelo Bielsa's appointment could bring Leeds United back to the big time after years of false dawns at Elland Road.
The news was announced on Friday morning and the Argentine will sign a two year deal at the club.
The former coach of the Argentine national side, Bielsa has also worked with clubs in Spain and France.
Former Republic of Ireland international Kenny Cunningham thinks the appointment is a big step for the club as they look to return to the Premier League.
"It's a huge name and maybe people may not realise but it's only because how highly thought of he is by people who are very high in the game themselves and how highly they speak of him - the likes of Pochettino of late has talked him up, literally in terms of 'this man is a God, he's a deity' in terms of a coach/manager.
"It'd be interesting to get on the training pitch and see how exactly how he operates, how he sets his team up tactically.
"It's amazing. Some people say the best managers operate at the very best clubs and sometimes these, kind of, ground breakers, they operate under the radar and very rarely get to the top of the tree and maybe that's not their motivation, in some respects, but they're clearly hugely respected and admired within the football community.
"There's been so many false dawns there over the last couple of years and Leeds is a great club. I used to love going there and playing football at the Stadium - it's a massive club.
"They have no divine right to be in the Premier League - they've got to earn it but it looks as if finally they might be on the right path.
