Alan Quinlan joined Thursday's OTB AM to look ahead to Ireland's Grand Slam showdown against England at Twickenham.
The former Munster forward believes Joe Schmidt’s side will benefit from a subdued build-up to their decisive encounter against an under pressure home team.
“There’s been no hype about the Irish this week, which is brilliant, it’s nice and quiet,” Quinlan told Ger and Eoin.
“Not that it makes a huge difference. Stories might be going around which people think are distractions, but they’re not. The focus on both sides is to get their house in order and have their plan in place. It just creates a bit of a story.”
England arrive into the clash on the back of consecutive away defeats to Scotland and France, leading to suggestions Jones’ side are enduring a mini-crisis.
“The reality is you have a wounded animal [in England] who are going to come out and try and protect their home turf and protect their careers,” Quinlan added.
“Some of these guys may not see a World Cup with [Eddie] Jones next year if they don’t perform. It could be the last time they play in an English jersey.”
