"Three games in six days" is "not correct" - West Ham boss Moyes

West Ham manager David Moyes has hit out at the congested Premier League fixture schedule ahead of his team taking on Burnley tomorrow in what will be their third game in six days.

"The players need recovery time. For us to be put in a period of three games in six days, which arguably are three of our most important games, is not correct," Moyes said of having to face Burnley, Chelsea and Newcastle in the space of a week.

"I don't agree with the Premier League and how they've done that. The players realise what they have to do to get back ready again and are recovering quicker, and we've had to do that. The players have been great and really looked after themselves.

"After they came back from lockdown they were in good condition and we've trained hard for the games. We only have three weeks left and we need to keep fit and in shape."

The Hammers boosted their chances of staying in the Premier League with a win over Chelsea and a draw against Newcastle last week but Moyes says he can't afford to think about planning for next season yet:

"No, it's not even crossed my mind. We need to pick up wins and collect points.

"I couldn't even tell you when next season starts or if the players will get any time off. It's all-consuming to make sure you win as many games as you possibly can."
