The next Virgil Van Dijk? Kyogo Furuhashi looks made for Man City, Liverpool | Pat Nevin

Kyogo Furuhashi scored two goals for Celtic on Sunday. He is the next hot property coming out of Scotland.

Kyogo Furuhashi scored two goals for Celtic on Sunday and Pat Nevin took notice.

Remember the name, because it's probably come to the Premier League soon.

Celtic signed Kyogo Furuhashi after selling Odsonne Edouard to Crystal Palace. Edouard was an outstanding player for Celtic. Furuhashi is eclipsing him. When Eoin Sheahan asked Pat Nevin about the two on The Football Show, Nevin chuckled to himself and suggested that Celtic fans saw the move as a coup.

They sold a brilliant player for big money, but they replaced him with a better player on a cheaper fee.

It's a matter of when not if Furuhashi moves to a bigger club. He will most likely land in the Premier League and Nevin believes his skill set belongs at the highest level. Celtic won't complain because they should receive a handsome fee in return for a 26-year-old who cost them £4.8 million.

"If you put Furuhashi in a good team he scores plenty of goals," Nevin said.

"I really do think that. He's not the tallest, but I think if you look in the Premier League and the best teams, do you need to be the tallest? You need to be somebody that's got great movement in and around the box. Pacey and an intelligent player. So Furuhashi is all those things."

Edouard swapped Celtic for Crystal Palace. He has flashed potential but hasn't set the league alight. Furuhashi isn't likely to go straight to a top club and start every week, but Nevin believes that is where he will wind up. He will follow a similar path to that of Virgil van Dijk.

Van Dijk played for Celtic before moving to Southampton. He is now arguably the best player in the world at Liverpool.

"There's a lot of clubs that will be watching him right this second. I think he'd be best suited for a Liverpool or a Manchester City. He'd work really, really well there. I suspect he would probably have to take a step before he made that one. He would go to one of the other clubs lower down the table, similar to the way Van Dijk did. From Southampton to Liverpool.

"But Furuhashi is a player. I used to go on quite a lot about John McGinn, Tierney I've always felt was as good as there is in the business. Van Dijk was an absolute classic which everyone in Scotland knew about long before everyone else. Furuhashi if I'm looking at Scotland right now, by a distance is the one [teams] should be looking at."
