Tottenham Hotspur have opened negotiations with Manchester United target Bruno Fernandes, according to reports in Portugal.
The Sporting Lisbon midfielder has been tracked by United for most of the summer, but now it looks like Spurs could be in contention to sign him.
While Tottenham are still interested in signing Real Betis midfielder Giovani Le Celso, their attention seems to have turned to the Portuguese midfielder after failing to agree on a fee for De Celso.
According to Sky's Dharmesh Seth, Spurs began talks with Sporting Lisbon this evening.
Speaking on the Transfer Show he said: "We are told Tottenham had a representative in Lisbon just this afternoon to discuss the potential signing of a man we’ve been talking about for much of the summer, Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes."
“One source in Portugal told me that Tottenham gave Sporting an idea of what they were prepared to pay. It fell short of Sporting’s €70million valuation."
Fernandes would be Spurs third signing of the summer after they signed Tanguay Ndombélé from Olympique Lyon for €59m.
They also signed youngster Jack Clarke from Leeds for €10m but immediately loaned him back to the club.
Meanwhile for United, while no deal has been made for Fernandes, they are continuing talks with Juve in principle for Dybala.
The deal would see Lukaku swapped for Dybala but the Argentine striker has yet to decide on whether he wants to move to United.
