Spillane's addition to Sligo squad confirmed

Sligo GAA have confirmed that Pat Spillane Junior has joined the county's senior football panel.
The Kerry native - who is the son of eight-time All-Ireland winner Pat Senior - has started training with Tony McEntee's squad.
He qualifies to represent the Yeats County as his mother, Rosarii, hails from the county.
The move was first mooted earlier this month, but has now become official after the CCC approved Spillane's request.
It represents a significant boost for Tony McEntee's charges as they bid for promotion from Division Four.
They are hoping to bounce back from a disappointing year in 2021, where they failed to make the semi-final stage in the bottom tier.
Sligo then shipped a 3-23 to 0-12 defeat to Mayo in the Connacht Championship.
A midfielder, Spillane plays his club football for St Jude's in Dublin.
He excelled with the Templeogue-based outfit on their run to the Senior Championship final last year, where they lost to Kilmacud Crokes.
Sligo begin their Division Four campaign with a trip to Wexford on the weekend after next.
Sligo GAA statement
"Sligo County Board can confirm that Pat Spillane has joined with the county’s senior football panel following the approval by the Competition Controls Committee of the GAA of his request to field with the county of his mother.

"Spillane (23), who is resident in Dublin where he plays for the St Jude’s club in Templeogue has begun training with Sligo’s Dublin based players and will participate in preparations for the forthcoming National League campaign which throws in on Sunday week next (January 30) when Sligo travel to Wexford."
