Shaken and Stirred | Graeme Souness on Tottenham under Mourinho

In terms of the Champions League group permutations, Tottenham's trip to Bayern Munich is inconsequential.

Spurs have already qualified for the next phase and can't catch Bayern at the top.

But it does give an opportunity to see how Jose Mourinho is developing a team he took over last month.

Speaking on Virgin Media Sport, Liverpool legend Graeme Souness assessed what he's made of the Mourinho impact at Tottenham so far.

"I think he's gone in there, shook them up," he said.

"You don't get a job unless there's something wrong at the football club.

Sought-After Job

"I think we all accepted that the group of players at Spurs were underperforming.

"And it was a much sought-after job. That was a job if he didn't have two eyes on, he certainly had one eye on.

"That was going to be a job that a lot of people would've wanted.

"And I think he's gone in and he's stirred a few and put a fire under several players.

"Dele Alli is the obvious one and he's got a reaction. [Mourinho] has a way of playing that maybe is more pragmatic than the previous manager.

"But he's a man who wins trophies at nearly every place he goes. So he'll be annoyed that they're conceding goals. They are scoring goals but he'll be annoyed at conceding goals and ultimately he'll sort that out.

"That might mean tweaking the way they play slightly, tweaking the personnel possibly and maybe get a slightly different type of midfield player in there. Personally, I think he needs a couple of decent full-backs."
