Ole Gunnar Solskjaer likens Roy Keane to Michael Jordan

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sees similarities between his old team-mate Roy Keane and basketball legend Michael Jordan.

The Norwegian has been spending some of his time during the Premier League shutdown watching the Netflix documentary, The Last Dance, which chronicles the career of the NBA superstar.

Jordan won an incredible six NBA championship titles with the Chicago Bulls but, as the documentary lays out, there were plenty of obstacles for him to overcome on the way to his success.

Jordan's never-give-up attitude and his will to win rubbed up some team-mates up and opponents the wrong way but also helped to motivate some of his fellow Bulls players.

That reminded Solskjaer of his former United captain.

"I don't think I've been different to anyone else," said Solskjaer in an interview with Football Focus.

"You watch TV, you watch series, you've got to switch off from football then, but then you find Netflix and you find The Last Dance about Michael Jordan.

"It takes me back to when I was a player and the great team of Sir Alex's.

"Michael Jordan, as a leader, you think of Roy Keane straightaway. There are so many similarities to my team, seeing that [Chicago Bulls] team, so it has been inspiring and a great watch."

Solskjaer isn't the only coach at Old Trafford who has been taking pointers from The Last Dance.

His assistant Mike Phelan urged aspiring players and coaches to watch it and to take notes.

"This is some serious TV," Phelan said in a Twitter post.

"The very nature of elite sport as it was intended. Get your pen and paper out and watch.

"More in here for any player or coach than on any webinar or course if you can decipher it ... There’s the challenge."
