Zorc: United target Jadon Sancho is going nowhere

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc insists that Jadon Sancho is going nowhere.

The England international winger has been the subject of intense speculation this summer regarding a potential move to Manchester United.

It's believed United have made contact with Dortmund in an effort to pry Sancho away from the Westfalenstadion, but have fallen short of the Bundesliga side's valuation.

Sancho is with the Dortmund squad at their pre-season training camp in Bad Ragaz.

Speaking from the Swiss spa town, Zorc told the assembled media, "We plan on having Jadon Sancho in our team this season, the decision is final. I think that answers all our questions."

Unfortunately for Dortmund, Zorc has a habit of saying one thing and then having his arm sufficiently twisted by a large bid.

In July 2017, the Dortmund sporting director said there was "no way" Ousmane Dembele would be leaving the club. Six weeks later, Dembele was a Barcelona player having departed for €105million.

Similarly, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang swapped Dortmund for Arsenal a year after signing a "long-term" contract at the Bundesliga club.

The Gabon international striker subsequently downed tools at Dortmund while agitating for a move to North London.

Zorc seems content that a similar situation will be avoided when it comes to Sancho.

"Last summer we adjusted Jadon's salary to match the development of his performances," Zorc told a press conference, "So in context, we had already extended his contract until 2023 back then."
