Arsene Wenger reacts to nervy Arsenal win over Hull

Arsene Wenger has admitted that there was a sense of nervousness around Arsenal's performances as they saw off an improving Hull City side 2-0 in the Premier League.

The victory eases the pressure slightly on the team after a poor run of recent results that have seen them slip away from the title reckoning.

The Gunners won 2-0 thanks to two goals from Alexis Sanchez.

The first one was controversial with a handball from the Chile international, while the second came from the penalty spot at the end of the fixture.

"I felt that we were resilient, focused, played a little bit nervous," he told Sky Sports.

"On top of that, it was not easy. We played against a good side and in the end as long as we couldn't score the second goal, we were under threat for them to come back."

The Arsenal boss admitted that he had expected an edgy atmosphere after the recent losses to Watford and Chelsea and on Sanchez's handball, Wenger said he "didn't see it as well".

During the week, defender Shkodran Mustafi had suggested that Arsenal were not giving up hope of catching Chelsea and after the game, goalkeeper Petr Cech echoed that sentiment.

"We really needed this win because we've fallen 12 points behind and there aren't many games to be played now. They have a big advantage, Chelsea, so we need to make sure we keep winning our games," said the former Chelsea goalkeeper.
