WATCH: Roy Keane really wasn't impressed with Aston Villa's survival celebrations

After Aston Villa's 1-1 draw with West Ham proved to be enough for Dean Smith's side to stay up, footage emerged from the dressing room of the players celebrating. It's fair to say that Roy Keane wasn't a fan.

After a dramatic final day of the 2019/2020 Premier League season, Aston Villa supporters will be celebrating after they secured their top flight status for another year.

Despite Bournemouth's win against Everton at Goodison Park, Villa did enough to ensure survival at the London City Stadium. A goal from their talismanic attacker Jack Grealish gave Dean Smith's side the lead, but Ukrainian international Andriy Yarmolenko ensured a nervous finale for the visitors after he levelled things up a minute later.

Despite having the second-worst defensive record in the league, Villa secured safety by a single point. In doing so, they condemned Watford and Bournemouth to the Championship.

At the end of the match, footage of a singalong from inside the Villa dressing room was shown to Keane and Micah Richards in the Sky Sports studio.

After host Dave Jones says to Keane "you can't begrudge them that," the former Manchester United midfielder replied by saying "that's why they never win anything."

Keane was an assistant manager at Villa Park during Paul Lambert's tenure, but Micah Richards has a completely different opinion of the celebrations than the Irish icon.

In terms of Villa's survival, the club was seven points from safety heading into their game against Crystal Palace on July 12. Their manager Dean Smith believes that Premier League safety is a bigger achievement than promotion.

“It feels better than getting promoted. We had a big turnround in the summer and to stay up from where we’ve come from is a great achievement.

Smith added: “I’m immensely proud and I’ve said that in the dressing room. We now look like Premier League players.  My whole family are in the living room watching together. It’s been emotional because I lost my father to coronavirus. I’m sure he’ll be looking down on us.”
