Katie McCabe scored a world-class goal for Arsenal against Liverpool today.
Liverpool's mens team will face off against Chelsea in the FA Cup Final today. But Liverpool's womens team suffered at the hands of Arsenal and Katie McCabe early in the day.
Arsenal ran out 4-0 winners over Liverpool in the fifth round of the FA Cup. Caitlin Foord opened the scoring on 18 minutes, before McCabe scored Arsenal's second on 31 minutes. Foord followed up quickly with the third on 33 minutes and captain Kim Little finished the game off in the 68th minute.
It was a day to forget for the Liverpool goalkeeper and defensive group. But there also wasn't much they could have done about the goals.
McCabe and Foord both scored world class goals from outside the box on the day.

McCabe's came first as she dropped to the edge of the box during the initial phase of the corner. Eventually the ball drops perfectly to her, where she's able to whip her foot through it and smash it in past the near post. The goalkeeper does well to get a hand to it but the ball is travelling too fast for her to deflect it past the post.
The Ireland left back, left wing back, left winger and attacker is used to scoring goals such as this one. She's made a name for herself as one of the better players in the world while regularly achieving the spectacular.

While the goalkeeper dove and got a hand to McCabe's strike, she didn't even try to reach Foord's that followed two minutes later. This is a sublime goal. The technique and awareness to watch the ball drop over her shoulder and then perfectly catch it on the half volley allows her to whip the ball high into the net.
The speed and transition with which she turns and strikes through the ball is incredible.
Arsenal are currently atop the Super League table on 31 points. But Chelsea are two points behind with a game in hand. Ireland captain McCabe will be integral to Arsenal's chances if they are going to win the league and maybe add the FA Cup to complete a double.
