Jose Mourinho slams referee for not awarding 'two penalties' in Manchester Derby

Jose Mourinho suffered his first competitive loss as the Man United boss today and it was against local opposition.

Goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Kelechi Iheanacho edged the thrilling encounter for Man City and establishes an early advantage for Pep Guardiola's side in their quest for a first Premier League trophy since 2013.

After the match however, Jose Mourinho was in typically disgruntled form and called out referee Mark Clattenburg for some of the decisions he made. Mourinho conceded that his side performed poorly in the first half but then pointed to two incidents where he felt penalties should have been awarded.

"We were the team trying to change the result. We were the team that had the courage and the honesty and the dignity to go and chase with pride. For what we did in the second half, we deserved

"Mark made two mistakes because (there should have been) two penalties for us. Bravo's was a penalty and a red card. Imagine (Marouane) Fellaini or (Wayne) Rooney doing that (in the middle of the park) it's a red card and a free-kick. In the box, it's more difficult to give and he didn't want to give."

He then proceeded to give his take on the challenge involving Nicolás Otamendi, which the Portuguese felt was also a penalty.

"He tries to close in front of him. The cross goes behind him and he's looking to the ball and the cross goes behind him and he knows that he's bringing the elbow back to stop that cross."
