Melbourne City defeated Sydney FC to with the FFA Cup final in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Tim Cahill scored the only goal of the game, to give Melbourne a 1-0 win, as they won the trophy for the first time in their history. Cahill scored past Sydney goalkeeper Danny Vukovic, but the goalkeeper will be remembered from the final for showing a more caring side, just before the hour-mark.
The final took place in Melbourne's AAMI Park, which is located on the banks of the Yarra River, only five kilometres from the coastline.
The area is regularly visited by seagulls, and one was injured in the game, which caused Vukovic to stop play.
The goalkeeper personally left the field, cradling the bird in his hands, before returning to his goal.
Even during one of the biggest matches of the season in Australian football, it's great to see a player focus on more important things than just the game.
