WATCH: 49-year-old Kazuyoshi Miura just scored his second goal of the season

Kazu, as he's known at home, is a bit of a legend in footballing circles; at 49-years-old, the former Japanese international player is the oldest professional footballer in the world.

Miura has had a career that most would be proud of to date, winning the Asian Player of the Year award in 1993 and representing the national team on 89 occasions.

At the age of 48, he decided to sign a new one-year deal with Yokohama F.C. in the J-League's second tier, extending his stay with the club to over a decade, and has been repaying the confidence shown in him by the team in spades this season.

He broke his own record back in June by becoming the oldest goalscorer in the league, but decided on the weekend that he'd add another goal to his tally this term, just to be sure.

The only thing left for Miura to tick off his list as a pro is an appearance at the World Cup, given that he missed out in 1998 after being dropped from the squad. Can he hold out until 2018...?
