Former Republic of Ireland international Stephen Ward will be spending the next several days training with English League One club Ipswich Town.
According to the official club website, the highly experienced left-back will be training at the club for the next "week or so".
Ward is without a club after being released by Championship side Stoke City where he had spent one season, making 15 league appearances, 17 in total and just one since December.
"Stephen is with us for a little while," Town's general manager of football operations, Lee O’Neill, told the club website.
"He's training with us and will have a look at the club and we will have a look at him. It’s no more than that at this stage."
34-year-old Ward has seven seasons of Premier League experience to his name and over 400 first-team appearances in English club football.
He spent seven seasons with Wolverhampton Wanderers after moving from Bohemians in 2007 and then went on to play for Burnley after a loan spell with Brighton.
Ward left the Clarets in July 2019 before getting the move to Stoke.
The Dubliner won the last of his 50 caps with the Republic of Ireland in the 4-1 UEFA Nations League defeat to Wales in Cardiff in September 2018, before announcing his international retirement in March 2019.
Ipswich were one of the favourites for promotion last season, their first in the third tier since 1957, but when the season was halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the club finished in 11th place as determined by the points-per-game basis.
