Wales' FA reject Hull's request to speak to Chris Coleman

Hull City have been refused permission to speak to Wales boss Chris Coleman about becoming their new manager.

The Football Association of Wales says it has rejected the Premier League club's approach as they look to fill the vacancy.

"The Football Association of Wales can confirm that it has received an official approach from Hull City FC for the services of manager Chris Coleman," the Welsh FA confirmed.

"Following discussions amongst leading figures within the association the approach has been rejected.

"Chris Coleman signed a new two year contract in May 2016 ahead of the UEFA European Championships in France and the FIFA World Cup in 2018.

"Everybody at the FAW are fully focused on the forthcoming World Cup qualifying campaign.

"The first match is against Moldova in Cardiff on September the 5th.

"Chris Coleman will announce the squad on August 25th."

Hull are after a replacement for Steve Bruce, who left last month.

Former Fulham, Real Sociedad and Coventry City boss Coleman impressed the watching world this summer as he guided Wales to a historic Euro 2016 semi-final in their first major tournament since 1958.
