Vodafone pull out of West Ham stadium sponsorship deal

Phone company Vodafone has pulled out of a £20 million deal to sponsor West Ham's London Stadium home.

It would have raised more money for the London Legacy Development Corporation per year than what the Premier League club are paying to play there each season.

It is understood Vodafone's decision is not based on Tuesday's announcement of a £5.2 billion (€6.1 billion) annual loss, or raids from HM Revenue and Customs on West Ham last month.

The London Stadium previously played host to the London 2012 Olympics, with West Ham making it their home ground at the start of this season after moving from the Boleyn Grounds.

The stadium will host the World Athletics Championships this summer.
