VIDEO: Four moments when Big Dunc totally lost the head

This week on Team 33, the enigma that is ex-Everton striker Duncan Ferguson was the central subject.

We spoke to In Search of Duncan Ferguson: The Life and Crimes of a Footballing Enigma author Alan Pattullo about the current Toffees staff member, looking back at both the "light and the shade" in depth.

The key question was whether Ferguson could be viewed as a thug during his playing career or if he was far more complex than we are often led to believe.

But it is also important to watch the moments when he lost his cool on the pitch to get the full picture.

While playing for Rangers in a facile 4-0 win over Raith Rovers in 1994, Ferguson would headbutt John "Jock" McStay.

Incredibly he would even avoid a booking for the incident. However, as Pattullo would recount, it would still lead to him having to spend three months in prison and the punishment had a strong impact on him.

As Sky Sports' Soccer AM noted, the reaction of Premier League cult hero Jimmy Bullard in the presence of a fearsome Big Dunc really makes this clip.

But the former Wigan player had a right to be wary of the Scotsman, who had just punched Paul Scharner.

In March 2004, Everton were in the midst of a relegation battle when they came up against Leicester City - another team fighting the drop.

After receiving a second yellow card in the 1-1 draw for wrestling Steffen Freund by the neck, Ferguson completely lost his cool and attempted to attack the German ...

Back in the old days, throwing an opposition player to the floor was not deemed to be much of a crime. Even though it was in the middle of a heated Merseyside derby, notice that Liverpool's Paul Ince reacted calmly after Big Dunc flung him unceremoniously onto the turf.
