Van Gaal: 'I don't think that I said something wrong'

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal says he is "very disappointed" to have been charged by the Football Association for comments he made to the media.

The Dutchman is alleged to have implied bias on the part of the match referee during United's FA Cup draw at Cambridge.

Van Gaal has announced his intention to appeal the decision, insisting that what he said was a general observation about English football, rather than an attack on the integrity of the official.

"I don't think that I said something wrong," said the 63-year-old. "I said already in our press conferences the same phrases because I know in advance that every [body] is in favour of the underdog."

If you didn't hear it already, John Giles had harsh words to say about the United manager on Off The Ball last night.
