Troy Parrott makes Premier League debut as Spurs hammer Burnley

17-year-old Dubliner Troy Parrott made his Premier League this afternoon as he came on for Tottenham at the new White Hart Lane.

José Mourinho gave the Republic of Ireland U-21 striker a chance in the last 10 minutes as Spurs beat Burnley 5-0 in the Premier League.

Mourinho then embraced the teenager at full time, congratulating him and presenting him with the match ball.

The development will give reassurance to many Republic of Ireland fans who feared for Parrott's future when the Portuguese arrived in North London.

Even though Mourinho has said he's got a new philosophy on managing and is interested in developing players rather than buying them in it was feared that Parrott would be put out on loan or sold.

Parrott had been linked to Bayern Munich last month.

The result makes it three wins out of four for Mourinho with Spurs.

Harry Kane scored twice with Lucas Moura, Son Heung-Min and Moussa Sissoko all finding the back of the net as well and they go fifth in the table with the win, six points off the top four.
