Cristiano Ronlado is a divisive figure; some consider him a pantomime villain, while others acknowledge that he's one of, if not the best footballer in the world.
As the final of the European Championships approached on Sunday night, there was once again a difference of opinion from many supporters who weren't sure if they wanted to see him finally achieve his dream of lifting a major trophy with the Portuguese national team.

Despite the fact that many people find it difficult to root for him, there was almost universal agreement that what happened to him in the final at the Stade de France would not have been wished on him by anyone.
The star man for Portugal was involved in a big challenge in the first half with Dimitri Payet after which he went down clutching his knee. Although he received treatment and tried to play on, he was unable to continue and had to be stretchered off on what is undoubtedly one of the biggest nights of his career.
From former team-mates to fans and pundits, there was an overriding sentiment that it was a shame to see the Real Madrid man carried off during the final, when he could have had such an impact on the game.
Its a shame if C.Ronaldo has to come off. You want to see the great players on the pitch in finals
