Transfer Talk: West Ham pondering move for Mario Gomez

West Ham come off the back of one of the best seasons in the club's history and prepare to maintain their status as a top eight team in the Premier League.

They have already received the promising news that Dimitri Payet will remain with the club for the foreseeable future, following his excellent campaign last term and his performances in the European Championships in June.

The Daily Mirror report that the London side are considering a move for veteran Germany striker Mario Gomez. The 31-year-old featured in the Euros last month and scored twice for Joachim Lows side.

It is believed a fee in the region of £7m should be able to bring them from Serie A, Fiorentina.

David Moyes continues to settle into life at Sunderland and admitted yesterday that he would be interested in bringing Manchester United duo Adnan Januzaj and Marouane Fellaini to the Stadium of Light.

However, to avoid a season-long relegation scrap again, the Scot knows it will be imperative to bring in defensive reinforcements to the squad.

With this in mind, the former Real Sociedad boss is eyeing a move for Senegalese defender Kara Mbodj.

The Black Cats look set to lose Lamine Kone to Everton, according to The Sun, so will make provisions by bringing in the Anderlecht defender for a fee of £8m.

Finally this morning, Swansea City have stepped up their bid to bring two Premier League players to the Liberty Stadium before the end of the transfer window.

Leicester City's Leo Ulloa and Tottenham's Nacer Chadli are both seen as prime candidates to strengthen the Welsh side's attacking options after being snubbed by Fernando Llorente.

Swansea have already parted with Bafetimbi Gomis, Eder and Alberto Paloschi this summer and so are desperate to bring in some alternatives.

The Express report that Chadli may struggle to break into the Tottenham starting line-up, while Ulloa may also be squeezed out of the Foxes team with the signing of Ahmed Musa and the decision for star striker Jamie Vardy to stay with the Premier League champions.
